| The Good old Days The surprise on Colin Green's face is not that Brian Douglas has just informed him Polly's Bluff would have beaten Colin's famous bitch Meatloaf, but more to the fact he has just asked him to go to the bar. Brian is a great dog man in his own right and was heavily involved in scratch racing during the 70's and 80's, he raced Polly's Bluff, Empty Pockets, Ploughman, and a good heavyweight 32lb bitch Bizzie Lizzie. Brian's dogs were always in great condition and won many scratch races both club and open level. Colin Green most remembered for his outstanding bitch Meatloaf bred from the Mr Benn x Bessies Best Line, she was known to have been given a handicap mark of minus 8 and still won the handicap on the same day. She was a bitch ahead of her time and gave Colin and his wife Hannah some of the best days racing anyone could ask for. Colin still has whippets today mainly as pets he owns a bitch from the Crazy Cracker x Homebird litter and a nice little black bitch from the Shooting Star x Black Magic litter. |
